Whether it’s a cracked screen or a battery swap, a little preparation makes your repair quicker and protects your data. Here’s the checklist we recommend to every customer.
1. Back up your phone
Most repairs don’t touch your data, but a backup is your safety net. On iPhone use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer; on Android use Google One backup.
2. Know your passcode
We test every function after a repair — touch, cameras, Face ID, speakers, charging. Having your passcode available makes that testing complete. You stay in control of your device and data.
3. Write down what’s wrong
Note when the problem started and anything that happened before it (a drop, water, an update). Small details help us find the real fault faster.
4. Remove your case, screen protector and accessories
Keep your case and accessories with you so nothing gets misplaced.
5. Take out your SIM and memory card
If your phone uses a physical SIM or microSD card, it’s safest to keep them with you.
6. Charge it a little (if it still works)
Some charge makes testing easier. If the phone is water-damaged, don’t charge it — power it off and bring it in. See what to do if your iPhone falls in water.
7. Get a quote first
Ask for the price and timing before any work starts. At Avenue D Cellular you can get an instant online quote and book a drop-off time, or simply walk in for a free diagnostic — Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 8 PM at 1080 Utica Ave, Brooklyn.
